Gites du Canal
Our gites are situated in the middile of what is said to be the largest vineyard in the world!
The geology of the Region gives rise to a wide variety of 'terroirs', each with is own characteristics that influence the eventual flavour of the wines - limestone crags, schist, garrigue, salt washed coastal plains and silt layered river valleys.
Spend time visiting the countless wine producers who greet you in their 'cave' and give detailed information and advice about the wines available for sampling and purchase.
We have our favourites and will provide a bottle for your arrival to whet your appetite to sample more!
Fresh produce, colourful markets, locally grown and restaurants - from basic all inclusive menus for 11 euros to Michelin starred.
A vast array of convenience foods can be purchased in the supermarkets, but there is nothing better than buying fresh ingredients locally to cook in the typical Mediterranean style.
Oysters from BouyzigesAnchovies from CollioureMelons, peaches and apricots from Pays CathareAsparagus and mara de bois strawberries grown in the village
